In 2007, GovSec, U.S. Law and Ready! will be taking place back to back with National Police Week, held May 12 – May 19, 2007 in Washington, DC. What is National Police Week?
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. Every year since, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. National Police Week is a collaborative effort, involving the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF), Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), the Fraternal Order of Police, Grand Lodge (FOP) and the FOP Auxiliary.
